Happy St. Paddy's Day

Today is SUCH a nice day that Olivia was able to wear one of her cutest Spring outfits, which just happens to be pastel green (appropriate for the day). We took a picnic lunch to Daddy at his office. We were early, so we walked around outside and explored while we waited.

Here, Olivia is singing "Happy Birthday". She thinks it's just a regular song, like "Itsy Bitsy Spider" or something. It's also one of her favorites, so she breaks out in Happy Birthday on a regular basis.

"Oh, Mommy, look at all those steps over there. Can we climb them? Please?"

We took a little walk with Daddy to a nearby grotto. Olivia was sitting on Daddy's shoulders singing "Jesus Loves Me" for most of the walk. This is another of her favorite songs, but she usually starts singing it when she sees a cross or religious statue or a church. We don't prompt her...she comes up with it on her own.
In case you were wondering, Olivia's version of "Jesus Loves Me" goes like this:
Jesah Lahb Me, Ah-Ah know! Ah da Bah-Buhl teh mah sew!

The second line is a little harder to decipher. It mostly ends up sounding like "Ah-bah-bah" in time with the tune.

I'm ready for my close-up!

Playing with her new wooden toy from Fr. D.

The toy is a woman giving her baby a bath, and the arms go up and down when you move the paddle so that the hanging ball swings in a circle.
She hasn't quite figured it out.

Sing us a song, you're the Piano Girl!

After Ash Wednesday Mass

ET - Phone Home

We were going through our boxes of spring/summer clothes and next-size-up hand-me-downs this morning, and Olivia found this outfit and INSISTED that I help her put it on.

Yes, it's exactly what you think it is...a pink Elvis jumpsuit. And a size too small, at that.

15 month doctor appointment and stats

When the nurse called us this morning, Olivia happily followed her back to the exam area and stepped right onto the adult scale as directed. No more baby scale for her! She stood still long enough to register her 27 lb weight (97th percentile).

We entered the room and got her height measurement at 34 inches. That was "off the charts" according to the nurse. She showed me the line graph on the computer, which was registering her at 99.98%, but I got the feeling that this was just the default percentile for anything above the line on the graph.

It is said that you can estimate a child's adult height by taking her 2-year-old measurement and doubling it. If you double her height now, she would measure 5'8"...which is how tall I am. But she still has nine months to go until she's 2 years old, so there's no telling how tall she'll be "expected" to be.

Her head circumference was also measuring at 97th percentile. So overall, she's growing at the rate of a 2-year-old.

Sheesh.

Shots were traumatic. The trauma was short-lived when Olivia became fascinated with the "fishies" (dolphins) that the bookkeeper had hanging above her desk at check-out. The doctor said that these are her last shots until Pre-Kindergarten shots, and we were told that we would "skip" the next well baby check-up (18 months). In the words of our doctor: "Well baby check-ups help us ensure that babies are continuing along proper growth and development expectations. I don't think we have anything to worry about with Olivia. We'll see you at her birthday for her annual check-up."

Fine by me.

Happy Birthday To You

This is Olivia singing Happy Birthday. You may not recognize the tune, but just trust me. At one point, she comes right up to the camera and says "To You!"

Happy birthday Gramma, Cousin Chris, and Uncle Billy!
